Improving Transparency in Sharing the Facebook Pixel and Offline Event Sets

Facebook Business

Throughout the year, we’ve been working on improving transparency and accountability in our advertising system from removing Partner Categories to introducing new requirements for custom audiences. As a continuation of these efforts, today, we’re adding new controls for sharing the Facebook pixel and offline event sets. The Facebook pixel and offline event sets track signals across both online and offline channels and help businesses understand how people are interacting with their business. These sources can then be used to help you run more relevant and effective ads. We know some businesses share pixel or offline event data with other businesses, like ad agencies or marketing partners who may run campaigns on their behalf. To make this process more transparent, we’re rolling out new requirements in the sharing process.

In order to begin sharing pixel or offline event information with another business, you’ll need to define your business’ relationship with the business you want to share data with and review and reaffirm your compliance with our existing Business Tools Terms of Service.

Through November, we’ll begin asking businesses initiating a new share of a pixel or offline event set to go through this process. Over the first half of 2019, we will start requiring businesses who have previously shared a pixel, app event or offline event set to also complete the requirement.
