Making It Easier to Display Temporary Service Changes on Facebook Pages
Facebook BusinessTo help businesses respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, we’re enabling businesses to announce temporary service changes on their Facebook Page and in searches on Facebook. Businesses that have changed how they operate, like fitness studios offering virtual classes or restaurants offering delivery instead of dine-in service, can easily indicate those changes to customers. Businesses that are subject to closures can share that they are temporarily closed.
Updating Temporary Service Changes in Page Settings
Businesses can access this feature by going to Page Settings > Page Info > Hours > Select “Temporary Service Changes”. There, they can either indicate that a location is “Temporarily Closed”, or select from multiple options under “Open with Service Changes”, like:
- Online Services
- Delivery
- Pickup
- Other Changes
Businesses that choose “Other Changes” are encouraged to post about special hours for the elderly, access to gift card purchases or similar options. Learn more about sharing temporary service changes on a Facebook Page.
How Temporary Service Changes Can Appear
When a business makes updates to reflect their temporary service changes, the information can appear on the Page, the Page preview, in search and in curated lists of local resources on Facebook. For example, within Events, if people are looking at a featured list of “Places Offering Delivery”, they’ll see businesses that indicate that their services include delivery. If people search for a local business on Facebook, they can easily see what’s available to them, like pickup and delivery only, or a temporary business closure.
We continue to explore how we can support businesses through this challenging time.
